Summer is winding down, but I’m happy to announce I’ve made a significant dent in my TBR (To Be Read) pile. Here are some of the top books that have brightened up my summer.

  • A Guide to Being Born by Ramona Ausubel—This collection of short stories is packed with vivid characters in unique situations, from a group of elderly women stranded on an abandoned shipping vessel to a young girl playing catch with a ghost.
  • The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women by Kate Moore—Moore recounts the true story of the female victims of occupational radium poisoning in the 1920s and 1930s. Their stories and fight for justice are heartbreaking and unforgettable.
  • The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman—In this prequel to Practical Magic, we learn the journey of a few characters we only got a glimpse of in the first novel. Familial love is a key player in this fantastical book.
  • Circe by Madeline Miller—Forget everything you thought you knew about the Greek gods! Miller reinvents these famous characters and transforms this powerful goddess into a new version that is surprisingly human.

Summer may be wrapping up, but there’s still time to catch up on your summer reading list!
